Downtown Bremerton Library, Renovation & Remodel
Bremerton, Kitsap Co. WA

MYCO provided architectural and interior design services for the remodel and rehabilitation of
the art-deco style Downtown Bremerton Public Library. The library was  built in 1938 under the
PWA program and had suffered severe deterioration due to general neglect.  Exterior work
included cleaning, patching and repainting with historically accurate colors and replacement
of the 70 year old windows with up-to-date energy efficient ones while maintaining the original
window design patterns.   In addition to refinishing the interior, period lighting fixtures were
installed as well as upgrading the lighting to today's standards, adding new phone and data
systems and designing new rest rooms for handicap accessibility.

Testimonial from James H. Robinson, CEO of James H. Robinson Company, Inc.
"Dear Miles...Just a note of appreciation for all that you did to facilitate things that made the Downtown
Library project go so very smoothly.  ...I have talked to a number of folks who were there for the event
(Grand Opening) and others who have been in the Library since the opening...everyone has been most
complimentary.  The design and color scheme seems to have struck a very favorable response with the
public generally.  You and your staff should take a bow on that also.  ...Thanks again, to you and your
staff, for making this project a very pleasant experience."
